In December 2008, House Democratic Leader Paul LeVota appointed Rep. Mike Talboy (Kansas City, 37th District) Chairman of The Missouri House Democratic Campaign Committee for the 2010 election cycle. Rep. Talboy was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2006 and served on the HDCC during the 2008 campaign cycle.
Prior to being elected he worked on various Democratic campaigns. In 2004, he was appointed Regional Field Director for the Missouri Coordinated Campaign, where he played a key role in developing the top field organization in the country for Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry. He is also a practicing attorney at the firm of Polsinelli Shughart in Kansas City.
"We continue to make gains because we are recruiting good candidates who are running modern, professional campaigns," Talboy said. "I have been speaking to future candidates and Democratic supporters throughout the state since November 4, 2008 and I am excited about the opportunity to continue expanding our numbers."
House Democrats have increased their numbers in the Missouri House of Representatives for two consecutive elections. That marks the first time since 1970 that Missouri House Democrats have increased their numbers for two elections in a row.
"The 2010 election has already begun," said LeVota (Independence, 52nd District). "Rep. Talboy has the political background and personal commitment that it takes to lead the HDCC and ensure continued success."
